Rabbi Jay Levy

Or Emet's spiritual leader, brings a broad range of rabbinic and cantorial experience to our Congregation.  A teacher and lecturer at the University of Judaism, Rabbi Levy specializes in conducting family services at several prominent Valley synagogues.  He has written, arranged and performed Jewish music throughout the U.S., and has sung with Theodore Bikel and the Zamir Choral in two Carnegie Hall performances.  Rabbi Levy studied Jewish education at Yeshiva Mogen David and the Hebrew Institute High School, and received a Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law.  He and his wife, Donna, have one son, Asher.

Marisa Schrier Hersh - Kita Alef & Bet

Marisa Schrier Hersh has been working in the Jewish community since 1997. She has experience working as an educator, youth group director, developing curriculum and specializes in Holocaust education. In 2004, Marisa traveled to Israel to collaborate and study with other Jewish colleagues. A former LAUSD teacher, Marisa currently tutors and teaches religious school. Marisa lives in Saugus with her husband and daughter.

Matthew Rubin - Kita Gimel

Matthew Rubin has been working with young people in a Jewish setting for over 10 years. During high school, he worked as a teacher's aide and in the nursery school of Temple Ahavat Shalom in Northridge. While attending graduate school in San Diego, Matthew taught for the San Diego Jewish Federation's "Pathways to Judaism" program, and worked as a tutor at a conservative synagogue. Matthew currently teaches eighth graders at Castaic Middle School, where he also serves as chair of the teacher leadership committee. He lives in Valencia with his wife and two dogs.

Anna Kassin - Kita Dalet & Chai Kids

Anna Kassin attended Hebrew day school from Pre-K through High School. She is from Brookly NY, and her father is Chief Rabbi in the Brooklyn Sephardim Community. She is from a very religious upbringing yet more conservative now. Anna has taught for many years in the Hebrew School after school programs and also tutors for Bar and Bat Mitzvah. She worked at Temple Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks and Temple Adat Elohim with Alef - Gimmel classes from late 1970-1989. She is currently a substitute teacher for Junior High & High School students in the Hart School District (Education Aid and Campus Supervisor).
